Meet Your Muse Vol. 1

Bringing writers and visual artists together, Meet Your Muse is an ongoing collaboration with the community of talented writers in and around Beacon, NY. Hatched by local writer Celia Reissig, a small group of writers were invited to participate.

The inaugual MYM was in March 2024, when Beacon-area writers joined BAU gallery artists to engage with the group exhibition Elemental to inspire a written response. The invited writers shared / read / performed their responses at a public event in the gallery on April 6th.

Lourdes Laifer—Forest Awakening: in response to Pamela Zaremba’s work “The Observer.”

Linda Siegel—Elemental Musing Inside and Outside: in response to the overall exhibit, a 'Kinesthetic experience,' appealing to many senses, while considering the pieces from many perspectives and hearing the voices from my life and from chatting with the artists.

Donna Minkowitz (read by Celia Reissig)—Untitled: in response to Mary McFerran's artwork, "Tower."

Celia Reissig—Moon Musings: in response to the artwork in general and specifically to Ilse Schreiber-Noll’s artwork, “Earth Resides into the Night” and “Silent Companions.”

Debbie Broshi (read by Lourdes Laifer)—Fire Under the Water: in response to Karen Allen’s work “Hook Mountain.”

Mark Harris (read by Celia Reissig)—The Goddess Luisa Divine: in response to Nataliya Hines’ work “Cicada.”
