Lukas Milanak - Solo Show

Milanak’s first interactive installation “Sandbox” presents viewers with the opportunity to experiment with the bioelectric properties of plants. Purpose-built instrumentation converts bioelectric data into sound, resulting in a reactive soundscape populated by invented geologic formations.These Geodes, handcrafted from raw-earth pigments, glass and concrete, invite viewers to explore their interior and exterior. Playing off material expectations, the stones are simultaneously opaque and transparent. As a whole, the show seeks to showcase the hidden magic of the natural world. In stark contrast to these times, “Sandbox” was inspired by memories of imaginary worlds, unguarded convictions and the thrill of unearthing something new.
